Skarlagen Parliament

Scarlett Manor is home to the Skarlagen parliament. Within are the two main houses of government and the Matriarchal Council, which takes the place a monarch would in many nations. The lower house is the Member's Gathering or Medlemsmote, this chamber houses the members of parliament representing the political parties voted in by the Skarlagen people. The Member's Gathering writes legislation and is headed by the president, vice president and speaker, debates are also held here.

The upper house is the house of Scarlett, though before 2018 the Matriarchal Council took its place. The House of Scarlett is not directly elected by the people but contains representatives from each region, each political party and the supreme court, the Matriarch herself often sits in on meetings here though she may only make suggestions. This chamber decides whether laws are constitutional and makes any necessary changes before passing it to the council to be signed into law or for any final alterations to be suggested.

Political Parties

There are currently 9 parties in St Scarlett though this is expected to grow now that a full democratic system has been installed.

Republican Party

The republican party, also known as the Haugen party is the largest party in St Scarlett and is the party of our current president. It currently has 77 seats on the Member's Gathering.

A centre-right party, it's primary goals are keeping St Scarlett economically viable whilst also increasing equal rights and democracy for all its citizens. It also has many environmental goals and is a founding member of the international organisation, the Alliance of Eco-political Parties.

Civil Liberties Party

The civil liberties party, usually known by its shorthand Norwegian name Borge, is the second largest party in St Scarlett and is led by Sir Hans Selberg. It currently has 45 seats on the Members Gathering.

This centrre-left party's primary goals are creating an extensive welfare state and ensuring full equal rights for every citizen of St Scarlett. In coalition with the Republicans it has helped to shape our new democratic society. Despite its centre-left position it agrees with the republican party on many aspects due to their combined desire for full equality.

Women of St Scarlett Party

The women's of St Scarlett party, also known simply as the women's party, is the oldest party in the nation and was the party that led St Scarlett from 1987 until 2018. It's leader is Iselin Arflot and it still has 30 seats on the Member's Gathering.

This party falls solidly on the right of politics, often drifting into the far right. It's primary goals include re-instating the female dominated society from pre-2018 and increasing the power of the Matriarch. This party is famous for its isolationist policies, cutting off almost every nation while it was in power.

New Left Party

The new left party, known more commonly as Ny-V, is a newer party in our nation and is led by Catherine Harper. It currently has 25 seats on the Member's Gathering and is predicted to take KAS's place as the third largest party in St Scarlett.

This left wing party's goals include creating a social democratic society with an extensive welfare state and more power to the trade unions and the working class. This party is one of the few that wants to seek Skarlagen admission to the European Union. The party also favours neutrality for the nation and less ties to the US and UK.

Skarlagen Communist Party

The Skarlagen communist party or SKP is an older party in St Scarlett but has never been too popular. Led by Sølvi Norgaard it currently has 4 seats on the Member's Gathering, beating its former record of 0.

This party falls on the far left of the political spectrum and aims to create a marxist state in St Scarlett, to go right where countries such as the USSR or China went wrong. Similar to KAS it wants to increase female superiority on the island but it also seeks to replace the Matriarch with a supreme leader, it also wants to cut back on religion within the nation.

Norwegian Reunification Party

The Norwegian reunification party is another older but less popular party in St Scarlett, its leader is Hannah Ivars. It currently has 1 seat on the Member's Gathering, which is a record for this party.

A party that generally falls on the right, this party's main goals centre around St Scarlett once again becoming a region within the Kingdom of Norway. Despite its controversial views and its generally conservative nature it agrees with the republican party on many issues, especially with regards to environmentalism.

Libertarian Party

The libertarian party, usually known by its Norwegian name of Libertariansk, is the second youngest party in St Scarlett and is a breakaway party from the republicans. Led by Evangeline Kleven it currently has 18 seats on the Member's Gathering.

This centre-right party agrees with the republicans on many issues but the key difference, and the cause of the split in the first place, is its views on the head of government. While the republican party still has minor intentions to create a full republic the libertarian party wishes to replace the matriarchy with a full constitutional monarchy. The party, as its name implies, is also more libertarian, wanting to legalise both recreational drugs and firearms (to a sensible degree).

Monarchy Party

The monarchy party, also known as just monarchy, is one of the younger parties in St Scarlett and is led by Kamilla Hermansen. As it was created after the last election it currently has no seats on the Member's Gathering.

This party tends to fall on the centre-right to right of politics and it's main aims are similar to the libertarians, to create a full and hereditary monarchy in St Scarlett. It differs to the libertarians due to its more conservative views and the amount of power it wants to give a potential monarchy.

Pirate Party

The pirate party, is the youngest party in St Scarlett and is led by Captain Bones. As it was created after the last election it currently has no seats on the Member's Gathering.

This big tent party's main aims are increased freedom for Skarlagen Citizens especially when it comes to the information they use. The pirate party seeks to reduce copyright laws in the nation and supports a more digitised system within St Scarlett, supporting such things as electronic voting in elections.
